Saechungmu is characterized by strong disease and lodging resistance, enabling stable production for farmers, and is also known for its excellent grain quality. Sindongjin is a representative rice variety produced in Yeonggwang-gun and is highly preferred by both farmers and consumers.
Since Sindongjin is scheduled to be excluded from the list of public stockpiling rice varieties starting in 2027, administrative authorities, agricultural cooperatives, and farming organizations have agreed to work closely together to find a replacement variety.
An official from the county said, "As Saechungmu and Sindongjin have been decided as the public stockpiling rice varieties for 2026, we will actively promote this to farmers and do our best to increase farm income."
