View original imageChinese company Xiaomi has denied reports from Chinese media yesterday claiming that it plans to launch AI glasses in the first half of this year.
Wang Hua, Xiaomi's head of public relations, posted on his social media account 'Weibo' on the morning of the 7th (local time), saying, "We greatly appreciate the interest in Xiaomi glasses," but added, "Sorry to disappoint everyone's expectations, but the official Weibo account was created several years ago and has not been newly reactivated."
Yesterday, multiple Chinese media outlets reported that Xiaomi had reactivated the official Weibo account for 'Xiaomi Glasses' and speculated that the product might be announced around March or April. The China Securities Journal reported that Xiaomi's AI glasses have already received network access approval from authorities and will be announced soon.
According to Hong Kong media The Standard and others, Xiaomi's AI glasses Weibo account currently has 6,041 followers but no posts.

Meanwhile, global market research firm IDC has predicted that worldwide shipments of AI glasses will grow 26% year-on-year to reach 12.8 million units this year, with shipments in China increasing by 107% to 2.8 million units.
