Gongju City to Invest 20.5 Billion Won in Senior Employment Project
2,771 in Public Interest Activities, 1,115 in Social Service Activities, and More
On the 6th, Gongju City in Chungnam announced that it will implement a senior job and social activity support project to help older adults supplement their income and enjoy a healthy retirement.
The total project budget is 20.5 billion KRW, an increase of 3.9 billion KRW from last year. The number of participants has also been expanded to 4,350, which is 706 more than last year.
This includes 2,771 participants in the public interest activity type that supports social activities, 1,115 in the social service type where participants can utilize their experience and skills, 275 in the market type that generates income through operating small stores, and 189 in the job placement type that provides job information and matching services for senior job seekers.
The Gongju Senior Club and six other implementing agencies will also support participating seniors.
Mayor Choi Woncheol stated, "As the elderly population increases, senior job programs are essential. Through this project, we will do our best to create quality jobs for seniors and support their stable retirement and continued participation in society."
