Gurye-gun Selected for Preliminary Feasibility Study on National Route 18 Four-Lane Expansion
A Budget of 62 Billion KRW to Be Invested
Gurye County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that the four-lane expansion project for National Route 18 has been selected as a candidate for the integrated preliminary feasibility study under the 6th National Road and Local Road Construction Five-Year Comprehensive Plan (2026-2030) established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The section selected for this project extends 4.6 km from Gurye County Office to Gurye Station, with a projected budget of 62 billion KRW.
The current section operates as a two-lane road, and there have been ongoing complaints about traffic congestion and safety issues. With the full-scale implementation of this project, significant improvements in traffic conditions are expected.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance will conduct an integrated preliminary feasibility study in the first half of this year, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will establish investment priorities and phased project plans based on the results, with the 6th National Road and Local Road Construction Five-Year Plan to be announced in 2026.
County Governor Kim Soonho stated, "We will work closely with relevant agencies to ensure that the four-lane expansion project from Gurye County Office to Gurye Station, which reflects the long-held wishes of our residents, is finalized as the project site."
