Samil PwC Hosts Seminar on "One Month Since Trump's Inauguration, Trade Regulation Response Strategies"
Samil PwC announced on the 6th that it will hold a seminar titled "One Month Since Trump's Inauguration: Strategies for Responding to Trade Regulations" at 2 p.m. on the 27th at Amore Hall on the 2nd floor of its headquarters in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
The second Trump administration, which took office on the 20th of last month, announced tariff imposition policies targeting China, Mexico, Canada, and others. As countries including South Korea, the European Union (EU), and Vietnam also fall within the scope of tariff imposition, companies need to respond accordingly.
This seminar was organized to conduct a mid-term review of the rapidly changing trade regulation policies one month after Trump's inauguration, and to examine future policy directions and response strategies for domestic companies. Top experts from related fields, including PwC US Trade Leader, the Trade Security Management Institute, and the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, are expected to attend.
First, Myungsoo Kang, head of Samil PwC’s Global Trade Solution Center, will deliver the keynote speech. Kang served as Director of Trade Cooperation at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy during Trump’s first term. He has demonstrated expertise in industrial and trade policies through roles such as spokesperson for the Ministry of Trade and permanent commissioner of the Trade Commission.
In the first session, focusing on policy, Anthony Tennariello, PwC US Trade Leader, will present on "One Month Since Trump's Inauguration: Changes and Prospects in Trade Regulation Policies and Multinational Corporations' Response Trends." Following this, Suhong Chae, General Manager of Policy Cooperation at the Trade Security Management Institute, will lecture on "Future Trade Security Policy Prospects of the Trump Administration," and Jun Yesang, Researcher at the Trade and Investment Policy Team of the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, will speak on "Potential Changes in Policy Instruments of U.S. Supply Chain Restructuring Policies and Their Implications."
The second session, focusing on responses by Korean companies, will feature presentations by partners from Samil PwC’s Global Trade Solution Center. Partner Juhyun So will discuss "Overall Trade Regulations and Production Site Optimization Strategies," Partner Kwangjin Park will cover "Changes and Prospects in U.S. Taxation," and Partner Jungeol Choi will present on "Supply Chain Tracking and Management Systems for Responding to Trade Issues." During the topic presentation time, presenters will answer attendees' questions based on the previously presented content.
Myungsoo Kang, head of Samil PwC’s Global Trade Solution Center and planner of this seminar, said, "As we mark one month since the Trump administration’s inauguration, it is a crucial time to reassess the direction of trade regulation policies and corporate business strategies. We hope this seminar will help understand the changing direction of U.S. trade regulation policies and assist in establishing corporate strategies."
