Gwangju Nam-gu Offers Employment Incentives to Encourage Long-term Youth Employment
Gwangju Nam-gu (District Mayor Kim Byungnae) announced on the 5th that it will implement a youth job-seeker employment incentive program to encourage young people to remain in their jobs long-term and to promote job-seeking activities.
The youth job-seeker employment incentive program is a pledge project under the 8th popularly elected administration, established to help stabilize the lives of young people taking their first steps into society.
The incentive is available to young people aged 19 to 39 who are registered residents of Nam-gu and, as of July 1, 2023, have signed a contract to work at least 40 hours per week at a workplace enrolled in the four major social insurances and have been employed there for more than six months. Household income must be at or below 150% of the median income standard.
Those who have already received the incentive last year, are currently participating in government or local government programs that directly support youth, or are job seekers with business registrations are excluded from eligibility.
The district will run the youth job-seeker incentive program from this month until the budget is exhausted. If the incentive is received through improper means, the full amount, including interest, will be reclaimed in accordance with the Act on the Prohibition of Fraudulent Claims for Public Funds and Recovery of Improper Gains.
For details on the application process and other information, refer to the announcements on the Nam-gu District Office website or contact the Job Policy Department.
A district official stated, "We are providing incentives to support the long-term employment of young people who have found jobs in a situation where the burden of job-seeking is increasing," adding, "We hope that the youth job-seeker incentive will serve as further motivation for more young people to achieve employment success."
