Strengthening Technological Capabilities Through Academic Discussion
Ulsan City will hold the "2025 Eco-friendly Ulsan Hydrogen Tram Technology Academic Forum" on February 5th at 2 PM in the Charlotte Room on the 3rd floor of Lotte Hotel.
This event was organized to explore policy and operational plans related to Ulsan's urban development and hydrogen trams.
The academic forum is co-hosted by Ulsan City and the Korea Engineering Society, with support from the Ulsan Chapter of the Korea Construction Association, the Ulsan Chapter of the Korea Specialty Contractors Association, and the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Branch of the Korean Society of Civil Engineers.
More than 120 participants will attend the event, including Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, Jang Deok-bae, President of the Korea Engineering Society, Lee Seon-ha, Honorary President of the Korean Society of Transportation, Professor Kim Hyun of Korea National University of Transportation, domestic and international experts, and technical public officials from Ulsan City.
The academic forum will proceed with presentations on research topics related to Ulsan City's eco-friendly hydrogen tram policies, operations, and signaling fields, followed by discussions and Q&A sessions with experts from each field.
▲ In the policy field, Dr. Jeong Hyun-wook from the Ulsan Research Institute will present on the topic "Ulsan Urban Development and Trams." ▲ In the operations field, Professor Kim Hyun from Korea National University of Transportation will present on "Cases of Tram Operation Efficiency and Its Role as a Mobility Mode." ▲ In the signaling field, Vice President Lee Su-hwan of ARTEC will present on "Development, Project Status, and Future Directions of the Korean-style Tram Signaling System."
The expert panel discussion will include Kim Jae-kwon, President of the Asia Eco-friendly Resources Association; Professor Lee Seon-ha of Kongju National University; Senior Researcher Hwang Jong-gyu of the Korea Railroad Research Institute; Han Sang-jung, President of the Busan Engineering Society; Professor Kim Ga-ya of Korea Maritime and Ocean University; and Kim Gyu-pan, Director of Ulsan City's Metropolitan Tram Transportation Division, who will provide policy proposals.
Jang Deok-bae, President of the Korea Engineering Society, said, "It is highly meaningful to have a venue where in-depth discussions on Ulsan hydrogen tram operation plans and technological innovation can take place," adding, "Through this event, technical experts who are top scientists with both theoretical and practical capabilities will participate, enabling Ulsan City and the Korea Engineering Society to make significant contributions to the development of tram technology in Korea."
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom stated, "This academic forum was jointly organized with the Korea Engineering Society to introduce and build consensus on technologies related to Ulsan's eco-friendly hydrogen tram," and added, "This forum, which will share various studies and information related to the construction of eco-friendly hydrogen trams, will play an important role in advancing technological development through communication and cooperation."
This academic forum was promoted as part of the "Business Agreement for Creating a Business-Friendly City and Technical Cooperation on Major Projects" signed by Ulsan City and the Korea Engineering Society in October last year.
