The improvement of livestock facilities through the distribution of smart livestock packages, expansion of livestock ICT (Information and Communication Technology) convergence, and modernization projects will support efficient farm management by real-time monitoring of breeding environments and animal health via an ICT-based smart livestock management system. This is a major competitiveness enhancement project aimed at animal welfare, labor reduction, and productivity improvement, with an investment plan of 161.6 billion KRW.
Additionally, to transition to a livestock industry structure that minimizes greenhouse gas emissions, a carbon-neutral program pilot project will be operated to support low-carbon farming activities for livestock farmers. A total of 32.6 billion KRW will be invested in carbon neutrality in the livestock sector to minimize greenhouse gases, environmental pollution, and odors, focusing on improving residents' quality of life and establishing a sustainable livestock industry foundation.
To create a safe livestock breeding foundation against disasters, 29 billion KRW will be invested in livestock disaster insurance and other measures to stabilize the management of livestock farms in case of damage caused by natural disasters (such as typhoons, floods, and snowstorms), fires, various accidents, and diseases.
Gyeonggi Province plans to enhance consumer trust by realizing animal welfare livestock through the expansion of Happy Livestock Farms and feed quality and safety management, along with the production of safe, high-quality livestock products.
By fostering the equine industry to promote the physical and mental health of residents, and discovering various win-win models for linking rural and urban areas and revitalizing the rural economy, Gyeonggi Province aims to illuminate the future of a sustainable livestock industry.
