Minister of Unification Meets with Acting US Ambassador to Korea... Discusses Cooperation Measures on North Korea
On the afternoon of the 4th, Kim Young-ho, Minister of Unification, met with Joseph Yun, Acting U.S. Ambassador to Korea, at the Government Seoul Office to exchange views on the situation on the Korean Peninsula and discuss cooperation measures between South Korea and the United States, the Ministry of Unification announced.
Minister Kim requested that the U.S. Embassy in Korea play an active role in the process of cooperation between South Korea and the United States on unification and North Korea policies, especially with the inauguration of the new U.S. administration.
He emphasized that the South Korean government will maintain its fundamental position as a principal party to the Korean Peninsula issue and will strive to ensure close communication with the U.S. side during the formulation of North Korea policies by the new U.S. administration, so that South Korea and the United States can actively cooperate on the North Korean nuclear issue and dialogue with North Korea.
