Wando Coast Guard Arrests Man in His 60s for Reckless Fishing with Illegal Nets
The Wando Maritime Police announced on the 4th that they had apprehended a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, on suspicion of violating the Fisheries Resources Management Act by using illegal fishing gear during the special winter maritime safety crackdown period.

View original imageAccording to the Fisheries Resources Management Act, the manufacture, import, storage, transportation, display, and sale of fishing gear without a license or permit is prohibited. In addition, modifying vessels or installing facilities for the use of such gear is also illegal. Mr. A is suspected of loading unlicensed fishing gear onto his vessel and operating and navigating with it.
A representative from the maritime police stated, "We plan to further strengthen crackdowns on the use of illegal fishing gear to ensure the continued protection of fisheries resources and establish sound fishing practices," and urged, "We hope fishermen will comply with relevant regulations and cooperate in creating a healthy marine environment."
The Wando Maritime Police plan to conduct further investigations into the specific circumstances of the violation and whether there was any distribution of illegal fishing gear by Mr. A.
