Yongin City Expands Research Equipment Usage Fee Support for Semiconductor SoBuJang Companies

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is expanding support for research equipment usage fees for semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment (SoBuJang) companies.
On the 4th, Yongin City announced that it has increased the support limit for equipment usage fees for SoBuJang companies' product manufacturing and research and development from 10 million KRW last year to 15 million KRW this year to revitalize the semiconductor industry in the region.

View original imageAlong with this, the city explained that it has expanded the range of institutions eligible for research equipment usage fee support by adding the Korea Nano Technology Institute to the previously limited Next-Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute of Gyeonggi Province. When renting equipment from the Next-Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute, a 30% discount on rental fees is provided.
The support target is semiconductor SoBuJang companies that have at least one of the following in the Yongin area: headquarters, factory, or research institute. Interested companies can visit the Semiconductor Policy Division's Semiconductor Technology Support Team in Yongin City or submit an application via email by the 21st.
However, companies will be excluded from support if they meet any of the following conditions: ▲false information on documents ▲companies receiving equipment usage fee support from government or other local governments' eligible institutions ▲companies not classified as small and medium enterprises under the 'Framework Act on Small and Medium Enterprises' or as medium-sized enterprises under the 'Special Act on Promotion of Growth and Competitiveness of Medium Enterprises' ▲companies not covered by the 'Special Act on Strengthening Competitiveness and Stabilizing Supply Chains of Materials, Parts, and Equipment Industry' ▲companies without corporate research institutes or dedicated R&D departments under the 'Act on Promotion of Basic Research and Technology Development Support' ▲companies relocating their business site outside Yongin before completing the subsidy project ▲companies with national or local tax arrears ▲companies lacking semiconductor SoBuJang technology development capabilities or relevance ▲companies using the support for purposes different from those stated in the business plan.

A city official said, "We have expanded support for research equipment rental costs to strengthen the technological capabilities and competitiveness of SoBuJang companies related to the semiconductor industry in the region," adding, "We will continue to explore ways to expand the support scope so that SoBuJang companies can use the infrastructure of research institutions at affordable costs."
