Lichun Daegil!... Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, Posts Spring Festival Blessing on Gwangheungdang Door to Welcome New Year Spring
On the morning of the 3rd, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, posted an Ipchunchuk (Spring Beginning Blessing) on the gate of Gwangheungdang (21 Dokmak-ro 21-gil) and wished for only good things to fill Mapo District in the new year of 2025.
An Ipchunchuk is a written blessing or congratulatory message celebrating the arrival of spring on Ipchun (立春), the first solar term of the new year.
Gwangheungdang, where the Ipchunchuk was posted, is a hanok cultural space located to the right of King Gongmin’s shrine, operating various traditional cultural programs such as Korean traditional music performances.
The event, hosted by the Mapo Cultural Center, was attended by Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, the head of the Mapo Cultural Center, the Director of Tourism and Economy, and the head of Seogang-dong, among others.
