This year’s Daedeok Special Zone development project focuses on fostering 12 national strategic technologies and deep tech fields, including ‘Commercialization of Strategic Technology Special Zone Research Outcomes (13.2 billion KRW)’ and ‘Support for Special Zone Innovation Growth Scale-up (9.6 billion KRW).’ The total budget allocated for the project, including other common budgets, amounts to 31 billion KRW.

The Special Zone Foundation will establish an 'Innovation Actor Network' involving key industry, academia, research institutes, and government participants in the commercialization of strategic technology special zone research outcomes.

Through this, the foundation aims to discover promising technologies in national strategic technology and deep tech fields held by public research institutions, strengthen connections with demand-side entities, and firmly build a technology commercialization ecosystem.

Additionally, a new ‘Unicorn Project’ will be launched to nurture research institute-affiliated companies into regional anchor companies, supporting their growth stages with research and business development (R&BD) so that these companies can become unicorns.

Furthermore, the Special Zone Foundation plans to contribute to resolving workforce shortages by introducing regional workforce training support and entrepreneurship education, and will operate a one-stop support center to address corporate difficulties in areas such as legal, financial, accounting, and human resources.

To support special zone innovation growth scale-up, the foundation will identify demonstration tasks linked to regional specialized industries and promote a regional innovation demonstration project planning business that connects planning projects with demand-side entities.
