Four Cities and Counties Selected...
Expansion of Various Leisure Facilities Worth 2 Billion KRW per City and County,
Including Pet-Friendly Camping and Picnic Sites
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 3rd that it has selected Munsan-eup in Paju City, Gwangjeok-myeon in Yangju City, Idong-myeon in Pocheon City, and Buk-myeon in Gapyeong County as specialized local leisure facility sites where people can enjoy time with their pets, as promised during the announcement of the Northern Gyeonggi Pet Theme Park plan in Dongducheon City, part of the ‘Northern Gyeonggi Grand Renovation Project’.
This project, which will create safe and convenient leisure spaces such as campgrounds, walking trails, and swimming pools for both people and their pets, will invest approximately 2 billion KRW per city and county.
The province explained that from September last year, it conducted demand surveys and collected opinions from 10 northern cities and counties, and selected the target sites through a final evaluation in January this year.
Key facilities planned for each city and county include an outdoor dog sports training ground and indoor training center in Pocheon, a dog playground and walking trails in Paju, pet-friendly lodging and campgrounds in Gapyeong, and picnic areas and dog swimming pools in Yangju.
Regarding the project plans for each city and county, the province appointed experts in pets, urban planning, tourism, and development as evaluation committee members to comprehensively assess the appropriateness, feasibility, willingness to proceed, and acceptability of the plans. It also instructed that expert advisory opinions be reflected in the detailed design stages.
This pet-friendly leisure facility project is expected to provide various benefits not only to local residents but also to families with pets.
