'2025 Red Road Seolnal Celebration Festival' Held
Blessing Balloons Released and Cultural Performances Held at Red Road R1 on the 25th
Experience Traditional Games Featured in the Drama 'Squid Game', Including Ttakji-chigi
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) held the '2025 Red Road Seolnal Festival' at Red Road R1 Square starting from 5 PM on January 25, the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday.
This event was planned to create a space where the local community and tourists could unite through a festival of healing and happiness to welcome the year 2025.
About 1,000 people participated on site, bringing the event's excitement to life.
The pre-performance began at 5 PM with a traditional parade around Red Road wishing for Mapo's prosperity. This was followed by performances from buskers and the Hyo-do Bapsang Choir.
The main event started at 6 PM inside the air dome, hosted by MC Jo Young-gu. Afterwards, attendees watched videos titled '2024 with Red Road' and 'New Year Wishes' welcoming 2025.
The highlight of the Seolnal Festival was the 'Blessing Balloon Release' event held at 6:30 PM. The blessing balloons, carrying the wishes of all participants and Mapo-gu’s goal of becoming the number one district in happiness index in 2025, were released inside the air dome.
In the latter part of the event, performances by The Punnist, One Plus One, and Yang Ji-won energized the festival atmosphere.
Mapo-gu also installed a large LED screen outside the air dome for Red Road visitors to enjoy the Seolnal Festival, maximizing the sense of presence.
Alongside the event, from 11 AM to 3:30 PM, inside the air dome at Red Road R1, visitors could experience five traditional games including ttakji-chigi, jegi-chagi, and biseok-chigi, which gained global attention through the drama Squid Game 2.
The experience event attracted many domestic and international tourists, showing that Korean traditional culture can greatly contribute to attracting tourists.
