Jo Sun-yeol, a lawyer (53, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 33), was elected as the 98th president of the Seoul Bar Association (Seoul Bar) with 4,919 votes (45.4%) out of 10,814 votes. Jo ran in this election as a running mate of Kim Jung-wook, who was elected as the next president of the Korean Bar Association on the 20th. His main pledges included protecting the legal profession, regulating network law firms, reducing the number of lawyers produced, reinstating success fees in criminal cases, and introducing attorney-client privilege (ACP). Jo graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in law and has since served as vice president of the Korean Bar Association, a specialist member of the Legal Ethics Council, and the 97th vice president of the Seoul Bar Association.
