Kim Dong-geun, Uijeongbu Mayor, Visits Personal Taxi Association for Encouragement
Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) held a meeting on the 21st with the Uijeongbu City Private Taxi Association (Chairman Ha Si-young) to encourage transportation workers and listen to their voices on policy improvement matters.

View original imageThe meeting, held in the conference room of the Uijeongbu City Private Taxi Association, took place ahead of the association's 2025 delegates' general assembly, with 19 delegates including the chairman in attendance.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun welcomed the newly appointed Chairman Ha Si-young and extended New Year greetings to the transportation workers before listening to their opinions. The transportation workers suggested expanding simple taxi rest areas, cracking down on operations outside business zones, and addressing the shortage of waiting spaces for taxis exclusively for the disabled.
Chairman Ha Si-young expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you for last year's support for the replacement costs of old taxis and improvements to taxi stands," and added, "We will work together with Uijeongbu City to create a smooth taxi transportation business environment."
Mayor Kim Dong-geun stated, "We will open simple taxi rest areas as soon as possible and conduct a demand survey for the 2025 old taxi replacement cost support," and added, "We appreciate the hard work of taxi transportation workers and will continue to strive to provide better working conditions."

Currently, the city provides various supports for the taxi industry, including the old taxi replacement cost support project, support for taxi card payment fees and communication charges, and fuel subsidies. A demand survey for the 2025 old taxi replacement cost support project is also planned. Additionally, to improve workers' working conditions, the city plans to create a simple taxi rest area by utilizing the existing building of the former Job Center near the Uijeongbu Station taxi stand.
