Through this expansion, the KT&G T?rkiye factory, which now has a total floor area of 25,000㎡?approximately 1.5 times larger than before?has added two state-of-the-art production facilities. As a result, the factory can now produce up to 12 billion cigarettes annually with a total of four cigarette production lines. The T?rkiye factory is set to become an export forward base and a key production hub responding to the growing demand in the North African and Latin American markets.
Previously, KT&G established the T?rkiye factory as its first overseas plant in 2008 and has since continuously strengthened its global business. Currently, KT&G is constructing an additional factory in Indonesia, and a new factory being built in Kazakhstan is also scheduled for completion this year. The company plans to focus on improving profitability by building a locally integrated value chain that directly manages everything from production to sales and distribution centered on overseas production bases.
The expansion of the T?rkiye factory is part of KT&G's growth investment announced at the 'Future Vision Declaration Ceremony' in January 2023. KT&G revealed a growth strategy focusing on three core businesses?NGP, Global CC, and health functional foods?along with a mid- to long-term vision to leap to the global top tier. The company plans to increase the global sales ratio to over 50% by 2027 through strengthening its overseas direct business capabilities.
