Please Recommend the ‘Pohang-si Book of the Year’!... Creating a Reading Culture in Society
Promoting Reading and Revitalizing Local Culture Among Pohang Citizens
Pohang City is accepting nominations for candidate books for the ‘2025 Pohang City Book of the Year’ from the 20th until February 16th, over a period of four weeks.
Now in its 20th year, ‘One Book One Pohang’ is a city-wide reading promotion campaign that selects one book each in the children’s, youth, and general categories based on citizen recommendations. Various reading culture events are held using the Book of the Year as a medium.
Recommendations for the Book of the Year can be made through the Pohang City Library website and the One Book recommendation sections of the nine municipal libraries. Eligible books must have been published within the last two years, be suitable for hosting reading culture programs, and be accessible for anyone to read without difficulty.
Candidate books recommended by citizens will be selected through two rounds of the One Book selection committee and a citizen vote. Starting with the Book of the Year announcement ceremony in April, events such as reading relays, contests, One Book quiz competitions, and meetings with One Book authors will be held.
