Kim Jeong-gi Appointed as Daegu Deputy Mayor... "Will Ensure Smooth Progress of Daegu Innovation Projects"
Newly appointed Kim Jeong-gi (55), Deputy Mayor of Daegu, will start his first day in office on the 20th by briefly sharing his thoughts without a separate inauguration ceremony, followed by discussions on key issues with department heads.
Deputy Mayor Kim Jeong-gi, a native of Daegu, graduated from the Department of Public Administration at Kyungpook National University and entered public service in 1998 through the 41st Administrative Examination, starting at the National Civil Complaints Commission.
In 2002, he moved to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and has held various positions including administrative officer at the Office for Government Policy Coordination and the Presidential Secretariat, head of organizational diagnosis and planning at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, director of planning and coordination at Daegu City, organizational policy officer and director of the organization bureau at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Based on his experience in central administration as well as a deep understanding of Daegu’s municipal issues, he plans to diligently promote the Daegu Innovation 100+1 project without setbacks despite difficult economic and financial conditions, and to strengthen the social safety net by enhancing winter disaster and accident prevention and protection for vulnerable groups.
In particular, he will thoroughly prepare for the upcoming 2025 Daegu Marathon to be held at the world’s highest level, and lead efforts to expand the organization and establish a cooperative system with the central government for revising special laws to enable direct public development of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport project, ensuring that key projects across all areas of city administration proceed steadily.
On the day of his inauguration, Deputy Mayor Kim Jeong-gi will attend an executive meeting to order the flawless implementation of comprehensive measures for the Lunar New Year holiday, then visit the city council to request active cooperation from the legislature in resolving major municipal issues. In the afternoon, he plans to receive reports on emergency medical systems and disaster safety as top priorities.
Especially before the Lunar New Year holiday, he plans to visit the CCTV Integrated Control Center and Daegu Medical Center to inspect disaster and medical systems and encourage staff on duty.
