Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Delivers Plastic Recycled Products to Workers
Production of Winter Scarves Using Marine Plastic
and Other Recycled Products
Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (hereinafter referred to as the Authority, President Park Sunghyun) announced on the 17th that it has distributed winter scarves made from recycled marine plastic and emergency safety kits to port site workers to mark the winter season.
The winter scarves were produced to support port workers who are vulnerable to cold-related illnesses due to prolonged exposure to harsh winter conditions. This is the Authority's fifth recycled marine plastic product, following bags, safety vests, lane control blocks, and safety fence blocks. The scarves were made using discarded PET bottles and ropes collected directly by the Authority, adding further significance to the initiative.

In recognition of these achievements, the Authority has obtained the OBP (Ocean Bound Plastic) certification, an international certification that verifies the collection, management, and recycling of plastic waste collected from the sea, for four consecutive years. Last month, the Authority also received the Environmental Innovation Award in the Zero Waste category at the "2024 Consumer ESG Innovation Awards" and was selected as an outstanding case, further acknowledging the excellence of the "Marine Plastic Resource Circulation Project."
President Park Sunghyun stated, "I would like to thank the port workers for their dedication to safe port operations even during the winter cold. We will continue to expand the 'Marine Plastic Resource Circulation Project' and carry out activities that benefit both port workers and the local community."
