Democratic Party to Gather Opinions at General Assembly Meeting
The People Power Party and the Democratic Party of Korea have begun discussions to reach a bipartisan agreement on the 'Special Prosecutor Appointment Act for the Investigation of the December 3 Emergency Martial Law Incident (Special Prosecutor Act).' Speaker Woo Won-shik stated, "We will do our best to handle this issue through consensus."
Speaker Woo, People Power Party Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong, and Democratic Party Floor Leader Park Chan-dae met at the National Assembly around 1:30 p.m. on the 17th to enter into formal negotiations. Previously, the Democratic Party was pushing forward a second version of the 'Special Prosecutor Appointment Act for the Investigation of the Treason and Foreign Exchange Crimes of the Yoon Seok-yeol Government (Treason Special Prosecutor Act)' by leveraging their majority seats. In response, the People Power Party said, "The lesser evil is better than the worst," and announced they would prepare their own special prosecutor act, which they submitted as the party's official stance that afternoon.
