"Decision Made to Overcome Financial Crisis Caused by Economic Downturn"
Jeong Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Province, has decided to voluntarily cut 20% of the business promotion expenses to help overcome the financial crisis.
Mayor Jeong stated on the 17th, "Due to the recent ongoing economic downturn and the resulting decrease in local tax revenue, we decided to cut business promotion expenses as a way for the city to take the lead and tighten our belts to respond efficiently to difficult financial management."
The city will reduce the business promotion expenses not only for Mayor Jeong but also for the Vice Mayor. The business promotion expenses allocated for this year are 97 million KRW for the Mayor and 71 million KRW for the Vice Mayor. The reduction will decrease the business promotion expenses by 33 million KRW.
A city official added, "Although it is a small amount of the total budget, this decision was made to demonstrate trustworthy administration to the citizens and to overcome the difficult financial crisis together."
