National Honam Biological Resources Center Discovers Bundle of New and Unrecorded Species
Revealing Biodiversity Relationships...
Published in the International Journal "ZooKeys"
The National Honam Biological Resource Center (Director Park Jinyoung), under the Ministry of Environment, announced on the 17th that it has published a paper in the international academic journal ZooKeys (SCIE) on the discovery of a new species of bagworm moth, provisionally named "Garo-juljip-jumeoni-nabang" (Oiketicoides gohadoensis), and an unrecorded parasitic fly species (Tachinidae), Neophryxe psychidis, which parasitizes this moth, both found within the center's building in Gohado, Mokpo.

The research team from the Animal Resources Department of the National Honam Biological Resource Center collected the new species in Gohado, Mokpo, where the institution is located, and named it gohadoensis. This discovery was officially recorded through this academic publication.
Naming authors Noh Seungjin and Lee Dongjun stated, "It is a very interesting case to discover two species at once?a new moth and an unrecorded parasitic fly that lives inside it?confirming both biodiversity enhancement and interspecies relationships."
