Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 16th that it will operate the ‘Uijeongbu Music Library Tour,’ which combines books, space, and music, every month starting this month.
The Music Library, one of Uijeongbu’s representative natural and cultural tourism resources, is a public music library specializing in the Black music genre, established in June 2021.
Gaining popularity through its beautiful space design, it has hosted music stages such as ‘Begin Again (JTBC)’ and the ‘KBS Symphony Orchestra,’ and is widely known as a filming location for dramas like ‘Melancholia (tvN)’ and ‘Our Beloved Summer (SBS).’
It houses over 16,000 non-book items including LPs, CDs, and DVDs, and owns a Steinway grand piano, known as the world’s finest piano.
The Music Library Tour with a librarian attracted 672 participants from 54 institutions and organizations nationwide last year alone, and the family and youth tours were used by 585 people, making it a highly popular program.
This year, tours for individuals aged middle school and above and families with elementary school children will be held every third Saturday of the month at 11 a.m., and youth groups will be operated from March on the second and fourth Fridays at 2 p.m. Institutions wishing to benchmark can participate on the first and third Thursdays of each month.
The program lasts about one hour, during which participants enjoy various videos and music in the 3rd-floor Music Hall, then explore the diverse aspects of the Music Library with detailed explanations from the librarian at the 3rd-floor Music Stage, M-floor Multi Stage, and 1st-floor Book Stage.
