Geumcheon-gu Implements Price Stabilization Measures for Lunar New Year
Operation of Price Countermeasure Situation Room for Lunar New Year Until February 1
Survey and On-site Inspection of Lunar New Year Seasonal Product Prices Until January 27
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will implement price stabilization measures for personal service fees and Lunar New Year seasonal products in celebration of the Lunar New Year.
According to Korea Price Information Service, the cost of Lunar New Year ancestral rites table this year was estimated at 302,500 KRW at traditional markets and 409,510 KRW at large supermarkets. These figures represent increases of 6.7% and 7.2%, respectively, compared to last year. The district has prepared price stabilization measures to reduce the shopping burden on residents during the Lunar New Year and to establish fair commercial practices.
From January 13 to February 1, a price countermeasure situation room will be operated to crack down on unfair commercial practices and handle reports. Reports of unfair commercial practices can be made to the comprehensive situation room after 6 p.m. on weekdays, on holidays, and during the Lunar New Year holiday period. Upon receiving a report, on-site inspections will be conducted and corrective orders issued.
Additionally, from January 13 to 27, on-site investigations will be conducted to monitor price trends of Lunar New Year seasonal products. Sudden price fluctuations will be examined, and the results of the price survey will be disclosed on the Geumcheon-gu Office website.
The survey targets 16 seasonal items including agricultural products (radish, napa cabbage, apple, pear, chestnut, jujube), livestock products (beef, pork, eggs, chicken), and seafood (pollock, mackerel, hairtail, croaker, squid, dried anchovy).
From January 20 to 27, on-site inspections will also be conducted at traditional markets, large supermarkets, agricultural, livestock, and fishery product retailers, and personal service businesses. Inspections at traditional markets and large supermarkets will focus on whether prices and origins are properly displayed.
For agricultural, livestock, and fishery product retailers, inspections will check for distribution of fraudulent or substandard livestock products, management of the livestock traceability system, and violations of measurement regulations. In personal service businesses such as restaurants and lodging, inspections will check for unfair price increases due to collusion.
