Woo Ki-hong Promoted to Vice Chairman, First in Six Years
Song Bo-young Appointed Senior Vice President of Asiana Airlines
Hanjin Group has carried out the regular executive appointments for 2025 at Korean Air, Hanjin KAL, and Asiana Airlines. While reviving the vice chairman system for the first time in six years, key executives from Korean Air were also assigned to Asiana Airlines.
On the 15th, Korean Air announced that these regular executive appointments would take effect from the 16th.
At Korean Air, President and CEO Woo Ki-hong was promoted to Vice Chairman. This marks the return of the vice chairman position for the first time in six years since Vice Chairman Seok Tae-soo in 2019. Born in 1962, Vice Chairman Woo joined Korean Air in 1987 and has held positions such as Senior Executive Vice President of Passenger Marketing, Head of the Americas Regional Headquarters, and Head of the Corporate Strategy Headquarters. At Hanjin KAL, the holding company of Hanjin Group, CEO Ryu Kyung-pyo was also promoted to Vice Chairman.
In addition, a total of 18 promotions were made at Korean Air. Executive Directors Eom Jae-dong and Park Hee-don were promoted to Senior Vice Presidents, and three others including Director Ko Kwang-ho were promoted to Executive Directors. Twelve people, including Senior Manager Kim Woo-hee, were newly appointed as Directors.
Along with this, Asiana Airlines also conducted appointments involving 15 people. Song Bo-young, Head of Korean Air’s Passenger Business Division (Executive Director), along with two others, were promoted to Senior Vice Presidents; five people including Seo Sang-hoon were promoted to Executive Directors; and seven people including Park Hyo-jung were newly appointed as Directors.
A Korean Air official stated, "Based on the foundation of safety and service, we plan to prepare for the successful launch of the integrated airline of Korean Air and Asiana Airlines. We will continue to strengthen our position as a global leader in the aviation industry and strive to develop and enhance the competitiveness of the Korean aviation industry."
