Jeju-do Opens Recruitment for Autonomous Police Chief Position
Applications Accepted from March 3 to 11
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province will launch an open recruitment for the position of the 8th Chief of the Autonomous Police Corps. This process begins as the current Chief, Park Kinam, will complete his term at the end of March.
According to Article 89 of the "Special Act on the Establishment of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and the Creation of an International Free City," Jeju Province will announce the open recruitment for the Chief of the Jeju Autonomous Police Corps from the 15th to the 31st.
Eligible applicants must have no disqualifications under Articles 8 and 11 of the Police Officers Act or other relevant laws. Applicants may include current or recently retired (within two years) Senior Superintendents who meet the requirements for promotion to Senior Superintendent General, as well as judges, prosecutors, or lawyers with at least five years of experience.
The new Chief will serve a term of two years, with the possibility of extension up to five years. However, the appointee must not exceed the age of 60 at the end of the term. Applications will be accepted from the 3rd to the 11th of next month. Through the Selection Examination Committee, 2 to 3 candidates will be chosen and notified to the Autonomous Police Personnel Committee.
The Autonomous Police Personnel Committee will recommend candidates to the Governor of Jeju after a priority review. The Governor will then appoint the final candidate as Chief of the Autonomous Police Corps from among those recommended.
The newly appointed 8th Chief of the Jeju Autonomous Police Corps is scheduled to officially begin duties on April 1.
