This remodeling project will introduce the latest technology suitable for a multi-purpose professional performance hall, such as increasing the number of stage curtain rigging points, which are the most important in art events, from the original 10 to 43, creating an optimized stage environment that meets the recent trends in performance production.
Additionally, the main entrance stairs will be cut back to create a new lobby that provides a sense of openness, and the exhibition room will be converted into a flexible space to transform it into a space that fits the latest trends. The small theater will also have its structure modified to enable actual performances.
Furthermore, the interior and rehearsal room environments will be tailored to the unique characteristics of each resident art group. The seating in the auditorium will be replaced, and an elevator will be added on the second floor of the main performance hall. Emphasizing safety and professionalism suitable for the purpose of the performance hall, the architectural and auxiliary facility infrastructure will be completely replaced to ensure that citizens experience no inconvenience when attending performances.
Currently, contracts for architecture, electrical, communication, and fire safety have been completed, and the construction details have been shared through discussions with on-site personnel in these fields to ensure higher quality work.
The Gimcheon City Culture and Arts Center is the largest cultural and artistic enjoyment space in Gimcheon. Over the 24 years since its opening, concerns about safety have increased due to aging stage facilities and building infrastructure, making facility improvements urgent. The construction is planned to be carried out with a target reopening in March 2026. After remodeling, the center will be transformed into a stage capable of hosting comprehensive art performances (such as opera and musicals) that align with modern trends, allowing citizens to enjoy a variety of performance genres. Through this, it is expected to become the core regional cultural and artistic space, operating diverse content and blossoming as a space filled with the fragrance of art.
