Mayor Lee personally took part in the daily sale of the paper-type Pohang Sarang Gift Certificates, exchanging New Year greetings with citizens visiting the bank and encouraging the bank staff who have worked hard on the gift certificate operations.
Pohang City is significantly expanding the 10% discount issuance of Pohang Sarang Gift Certificates and is conducting a special discount sale early in the year, offering 60 billion KRW in early discounts.
Following the complete sale of 35 billion KRW worth of Pohang Sarang Cards issued on the 2nd, from the 14th, the city is offering a special sale of 15 billion KRW worth of paper-type Pohang Sarang Gift Certificates at a 10% discount for the first time this year.
Additionally, the personal discount purchase limit for the paper-type Pohang Sarang Gift Certificates has been raised by 100,000 KRW to a maximum of 300,000 KRW, which is expected to greatly help revive the depressed consumer sentiment in traditional markets and local alleyway commercial districts.
Pohang City plans to issue an additional 10 billion KRW worth of Pohang Sarang Cards on the 3rd of next month and conduct a 10% special discount sale. The personal purchase limit for February will be 500,000 KRW, and the card holding limit will remain at 700,000 KRW.
In response to the ongoing economic downturn and increasing uncertainty both domestically and internationally, the early discount sale of 60 billion KRW worth of Pohang Sarang Gift Certificates at the beginning of the year is expected to stimulate consumption in the weakened local alleyway commercial districts, thereby playing a role as a catalyst for the recovery of the livelihood economy and revitalization of the local economy.
Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, “Despite the difficult local economic situation, the Pohang Sarang Gift Certificates, which offer both convenience of use and discount benefits, have been greatly loved by citizens and small business owners, bringing warmth to the alleyway commercial districts. We will continue to devote all efforts to discovering and supporting policies for both citizens and small business owners.”
