Jangseong County Establishes Safety Net for Climate-Vulnerable Groups and Local Community
Secured Total Project Budget of 1.06 Billion KRW
Special Paint Work at Over 40 Senior Centers
Heating Wires to Be Installed in Two Areas Vulnerable to Freezing
Jangseong County in Jeollanam-do is establishing a social safety net for vulnerable groups and areas that have difficulty coping with climate change.
On the 14th, Jangseong County announced that it had secured a total project budget of 1.06 billion KRW after being selected for the Ministry of Environment's "Climate Crisis Vulnerable Groups and Regional Support Project."
Accordingly, by the end of this year, the county will carry out special heat-blocking and heat-insulating paint work at 40 local senior centers and the Veterans Hall. Applying special paint to rooftops, roofs, and exterior walls helps maintain appropriate indoor temperatures, which contributes to reducing heating and cooling costs and achieving carbon neutrality.
Heating wires will be installed in two areas vulnerable to freezing, such as alleyways and slopes, to prevent winter slip-and-fall accidents among residents, including children and the elderly.
County Governor Kim Hanjong said, "This project will help residents lead healthy and safe daily lives," and added, "We will continue to strive for carbon neutrality and to strengthen our ability to respond to the climate crisis."
