Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will conduct the ‘Dream Start Pre-Middle School Program’ for 28 children whose Dream Start support is ending.
Dream Start support ends when children turn 12 and graduate from elementary school. The district prepared the program to help children graduating from elementary school adapt to their new middle school life and create lasting memories.
The ‘Dream Start Pre-Middle School Program’ consists of group musical viewing, a transition camp to help adapt to middle school life, and congratulatory gifts for school admission.
On January 5, 14 children who applied for the program watched the musical "Cyrano" at the Seoul Arts Center. A child who participated in the musical viewing said, “It was my first time watching a musical, and it will be a precious memory I will never forget,” expressing gratitude.
On January 18, a ‘Transition Education for Prospective Middle School Students’ will be held in collaboration with the Geumcheon Career and Academic Support Center. The program will cover topics under the theme of ‘Self-Directed Learning Camp for Prospective First-Year Middle School Students’ to help them adapt to middle school life.
Additionally, the district plans to provide school bags as congratulatory gifts for middle school admission, allowing children to choose their preferred design from three options. The school bags will be delivered to the children in early February, coinciding with the end of Dream Start support upon elementary school graduation.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I hope this program will serve as a foundation for children graduating from Dream Start to confidently take on new challenges in a new environment,” and added, “We will continue to provide practical support and various opportunities to Dream Start children.”
