Jeonnam Police Make Additional Arrests of Malicious Post Authors on 'Aircraft Disaster'
Victim Accused of Defamation
The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency (Chief Mo Sangmyo) Cyber Crime Investigation Unit additionally apprehended a suspect at their residence on the 8th for posting malicious content related to the 'Jeju Air passenger plane accident'.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency on the 9th, suspect A is accused of posting defamatory content about the victim on an online community in December of last year. The police plan to investigate whether there were additional offenses before deciding on further legal action.
The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency is currently conducting 17 investigations and has deleted or blocked 305 malicious posts. They plan to respond thoroughly to any posts mocking or slandering victims and their families, and will focus all investigative resources on these cases.
This incident is expected to serve as a warning against socially irresponsible behavior and highlight the seriousness of cybercrime.
An official from the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency stated, "Acts of slandering others or insulting victims through online communities must be strictly regulated by law."
