Chonnam National University Hospital Receives Grade 1 in HIRA Colorectal Cancer Appropriateness Assessment
Achieved for 8 Consecutive Times Since 2011
Chonnam National University Hospital (Director Jung Shin) announced on the 6th that it received a Grade 1 rating in the colorectal cancer adequacy assessment conducted by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service.
Chonnam National University Hospital has been recognized as one of the top hospitals for colorectal cancer surgery nationwide, having achieved Grade 1 for eight consecutive times since 2011.
In the first round of the second cycle of the colorectal cancer adequacy assessment released by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service, Chonnam National University Hospital scored 90.07 points, higher than the overall average of 86.86 points.
This adequacy assessment targeted 165 hospitals and clinics nationwide that performed colorectal cancer surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy from July 2022 to June last year.
The Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service evaluated 10 assessment indicators and 4 monitoring indicators.
Chonnam National University Hospital scored higher than the average for advanced general hospitals in areas such as ▲composition of specialized personnel ▲proportion of severe patients among surgical patients ▲implementation rate of recommended adjuvant chemotherapy within 8 weeks after surgery.
Despite having a higher proportion of severe patients compared to both the overall and advanced general hospital averages, Chonnam National University Hospital received a perfect score for 'surgical mortality rate,' one of the assessment indicators.
Director Jung Shin stated, "We have been recognized as a hospital excelling in cancer surgery, receiving Grade 1 for six consecutive times in the field of gastric cancer as well as colorectal cancer," and added, "As a regional base hospital, we will strive even harder to provide optimized treatment, surgery, and post-operative management with the highest level of medical service in all areas."
