A man in his 40s driving a truck under the influence near Bongcheon Station in Seoul caused a wrong-way driving accident, resulting in one death and one injury.
According to the Gwanak Police Station in Seoul on the 5th, a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, who was driving a mid-sized truck, a Rexton Sports, under the influence and caused the accident, was booked without detention on charges of professional negligence causing death.
Mr. A was driving in the second lane of four lanes on Bongcheon-ro in Gwanak-gu around 5:57 p.m. the previous day when he crossed into the first lane, hit the central divider, and collided with a Mercedes-Benz vehicle traveling in the opposite direction in the first lane.
As a result of the accident, the man in his 20s driving the Mercedes-Benz was transported to the hospital with fractured ribs, and the 70-year-old female passenger was moved to another hospital emergency room but died the following morning.

Mr. A was found at the scene under the influence but was taken to the hospital due to injuries including damaged teeth and a fractured shoulder. The police collected Mr. A’s blood and have requested the National Forensic Service to analyze the blood alcohol level.
