View original imageMokpo National University (President Song Hacheol) announced on the 2nd that, in cooperation with Jeollanam-do, it is operating the university dormitory (Haetgwi Hall) as a temporary accommodation for the families of victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident.
Immediately after the Jeju Air passenger plane accident on the 29th, Mokpo National University held an emergency meeting and designated the dormitory, which is currently on break, as accommodation for the victims' families. Over 20 university staff members have been deployed to provide free 24-hour lodging and meals, ensuring that the families can rest as comfortably as possible.
All necessary daily supplies for the accommodation are being provided in real-time through emergency support from the Jeollanam-do Volunteer Center and Muan International Airport.
In particular, after a notice about the accommodation was posted on social media, individual sponsorship inquiries have been pouring in from across the country.
As of the 1st, a total of 250 people, including the families of victims, have used the accommodation. To provide psychological support for the bereaved families, Jeollanam-do dispatched two professional staff members from the Jeonnam Mental Health Center to the dormitory, where they conducted 33 counseling sessions.
On the 2nd, a family member of a victim who stayed in room 315 of the Mokpo National University dormitory left a thank-you letter along with two bottles of energy drink, saying, "I will never forget your sacrifice and service. Thank you."
