Revitalizing the Local Economy and Responding to Population Decline
Kim Taekyun, Chairperson of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, announced that in the New Year of 2025, he will focus on revitalizing the local economy, overcoming the crisis of regional extinction, enhancing the professionalism of legislative activities, and strengthening the capabilities of the council.
In his New Year's address, Chairperson Kim emphasized that he would take the lead in revitalizing the local economy to recover from stagnation. He also promised to review support policies for small business owners in Jeonnam, discover effective support measures, and work to expand and strengthen the competitiveness of local gift certificates to boost domestic consumption and revitalize the regional economy.
In addition, he pledged to accelerate the operation of the task force for responding to regional extinction and population decline, form research groups among council members, dedicate efforts to policy development, and strive to achieve concrete results in increasing the population.
Chairperson Kim explained, "Last year, the Provincial Council carried out legislative activities to realize a 'council that works well and is rewarding to work in,'" adding, "We actively pursued legislative activities focused on responding to population decline and improving the quality of life for residents, such as establishing youth-specialized zones and enacting support ordinances."
He continued, "We established the Legislative Support Teams 1, 2, and 3 and placed them within the Policy Officer's Office of the Secretariat, creating an environment where policy support officers can fully focus on supporting legislative activities," and added, "We will actively promote the stable settlement of organizational restructuring and successfully address major legislative issues based on enhanced professionalism."
