[New Year's Address] Eom Eui-sik, Acting Mayor of Guro-gu, "Fully Committed to Preparing a New Future for Guro-gu"
The hopeful New Year of 2025 has dawned. This year is Eulsan year (乙巳年), the Year of the Blue Snake. Since ancient times, snakes have been regarded as mystical beings symbolizing renewal, abundance, prosperity, and regeneration as they shed their skin and are reborn. As we welcome the Year of the Blue Snake, I wish that your homes be filled with hope and happiness throughout the year.
This year’s New Year’s sentiment is more special than ever. Although there were significant changes and many difficulties inside and outside Guro-gu last year, thanks to everyone’s united efforts, we were able to overcome the crisis well. I sincerely extend my deepest respect and gratitude to all the residents who came together in heart and spirit to wisely overcome the challenges faced by our district.
In 2025, the highest value of district administration remains the happiness of residents and regional development. All public officials of Guro-gu, including myself, will always consider what must be done for regional development and approach every small task on the ground with the mindset that it changes the lives of our residents.
This year, as a by-election will be held, we will maintain political neutrality and public service discipline while preparing to welcome a new district administration.
There is an old saying, ‘Bija Deukgi (備者得機),’ meaning ‘Those who are prepared gain opportunities.’ In a situation where uncertainties in politics, economy, society, and other fields are increasing, in the New Year of 2025, Guro-gu will devote all efforts to preparing for a new future. We will seek the driving force for change and development and take proactive measures for a better future.
Above all, we will do our best to ensure that the major district projects and residents’ long-cherished projects proceed without setbacks so that our past efforts are not in vain. We ask for the continued support and cooperation of all residents.
