Gyeonggi-do, Safety Inspection of Fire and Explosion Hazardous Material Handling Sites in Winter
Gyeonggi Province will conduct safety inspections and expert consultations on 100 fire and explosion hazardous material handling sites from January 2 to February 14 next year to ensure fire safety during the winter season.
This inspection is the third phase following the inspections of 48 lithium handling sites and 100 other hazardous material handling sites conducted in June to prevent recurrence of similar accidents like the ‘Hwaseong factory fire,’ which caused multiple casualties.
The main inspection targets are sites handling substances such as nitric acid, which have had frequent fire and explosion incidents over the past five years.
The inspections will be carried out jointly by a team of three, consisting of civilian experts on hazardous chemicals and personnel from the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters, forming the ‘Hazardous Material Handling Site Safety Inspection and Expert Advisory Group.’
The key inspection items include ▲ comprehensive safety inspections of fire prevention and hazardous material facilities ▲ safety diagnosis of hazardous chemical handling facilities ▲ verification of hazardous chemical handling and storage conditions.
