Chungnam Province Sets Up Joint Memorial Altar for Jeju Air Accident Victims
On the 30th, Chungnam Province set up a joint memorial altar in front of the civil service office on the first floor of the provincial government building to mourn the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident.
The joint memorial altar will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until January 4, the end of the national mourning period, and any resident of the province may pay their respects.
The province has hoisted flags at half-mast, and all employees are wearing mourning ribbons and working with solemn hearts.
On this day, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs Kim Kiyoung and Vice Governor for Political Affairs Jeon Hyungsik, along with senior officials, visited the joint memorial altar to lay flowers and offer incense, expressing their condolences to the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident.
Governor Kim Taeheum, who is currently on bereavement leave due to his mother's passing, expressed his deep condolences to the bereaved families through Facebook on the 29th, saying, "I am devastated and heartbroken by the passenger plane crash at Muan Airport," and pledged that the province would spare no support.
Of the 179 people who died in the accident at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do on the 29th, one was a resident of Chungnam Province (living in Cheonan City).
