View original imageJeollanam-do announced that, in response to the Jeju Air passenger plane accident, it will operate a government joint memorial altar in Muan and a Jeollanam-do joint memorial altar at the Jeollanam-do Provincial Government Office to honor and mourn the victims nationwide.
The government joint memorial altar has been set up on the first floor of the Muan Sports Park Indoor Gymnasium, while the Jeollanam-do joint memorial altar is located at the 'Meeting Square' between the provincial government office and the provincial council. Anyone may pay their respects, and the altars are open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The operating hours may be extended depending on the circumstances.
Jeollanam-do has designated a mourning period until January 4, 2025, during which all public officials will wear mourning ribbons, and flags will be flown at half-mast at provincial, city, county, and public institutions.
Additional joint memorial altars will also be established and operated in cities and counties so that people can honor and remember the victims.
Kim Yungrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, stated, "I express my deepest condolences for the Jeju Air passenger plane accident," and added, "We will do our utmost in cooperation with relevant agencies to promptly identify every victim, and we will work closely with the government to provide bereaved families with timely and transparent information regarding the accident response and countermeasures."
