The "Korea Person of the Year Awards" is a prestigious honor presented to individuals who have demonstrated creative global leadership with a strong sense of duty and a firm national perspective in various fields such as politics, economy, society, and culture.
As a former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and an expert in economics and finance, Ando Geol has dedicated himself to regional development through communication with local residents since entering the 22nd National Assembly. He was recognized for his active legislative work in the National Assembly's Planning and Finance Committee and Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, as well as for proposing various policy alternatives to stabilize the people's livelihoods, earning him the honor of this award.
During the 2024 National Assembly audit, he presented policy tasks for the region and the country, such as expanding local currency to revitalize the regional economy, promoting the Southwest Mega City project, and increasing support for small business owners. He was also selected as an Outstanding Member of the National Assembly audit by the Democratic Party of Korea. In particular, he criticized the government's "Three Nos" (No Vision, No Reform, No Responsibility) economic policy stance and proposed the "Three Musts" economic policy vision: innovation, reform achievements, and responsible policy management for the national economy.
Ando Geol expressed his feelings about receiving the award, saying, "I am deeply honored and grateful to have our achievements recognized together with the local residents," and added, "I will continue to work tirelessly for regional development and the stabilization of the people's livelihoods without losing my original commitment."
