Ulsan City Implements Building Ordinance to Address Roof Leakage in Aging Houses
Partial Amendment to 'Ulsan City Building Ordinance' Promulgated and Enforced on December 19
Detached Houses Over 15 Years Old and Up to 3 Floors Allowed to Install Rain Shelters
Ulsan City has partially amended the "Ulsan Metropolitan City Building Ordinance," which was primarily proposed by City Councilor Andae-ryong, to address the issue of rooftop leaks in old detached houses.
With this ordinance amendment, rain shelter facilities can now be installed on the rooftops of old detached houses with three floors or less that have been in use for more than 15 years.
The rain shelter facilities must have a sloped roof without exterior walls, ensuring structural safety without damaging the urban landscape, and the maximum height cannot exceed 1.8 meters.
Additionally, these facilities cannot be used for residential purposes such as storage rooms or living rooms and can only be installed as temporary structures to resolve rooftop cracks and leakage issues.
