7 out of 10 Office Workers Expect a 3.1% Salary Increase Next Year... The Rest Expect It to Remain Frozen
31.3% of Respondents Expect "Salary Freeze"
Office workers expect the average salary increase rate for next year to be around 3%.
JobKorea announced on the 27th that a survey conducted from the 16th to the 23rd among 1,639 male and female office workers regarding the expected salary increase rate for 2025 showed these results.
In this survey, 66.8% of respondents said they expect their salary to increase next year. 31.3% anticipated a freeze, while only 1.9% expected a pay cut.
When asked about the expected salary increase rate for next year considering the current Korean economy and company circumstances, the average was calculated at 3.1%. This is the lowest level in the same survey conducted over the past three years. The expected average salary increase rates for the next year among office workers were 5.6% in 2022 and 4.6% in 2023, respectively.
The expected salary increase rate varied somewhat depending on the type of company. Foreign companies had the highest rate at 3.8%, followed by large corporations at 3.3%, small and medium-sized enterprises at 3.1%, and public enterprises at 2.8%.

The most common response for the fastest way to increase salary was through a job change, with 56.2%. Relatively fewer office workers chose negotiating the increase rate through year-end performance evaluations (24.6%) or promotion (17.9%).
