Jungnang-gu Wins Grand Prize in Local Government Category at the 2024 Korea ESG Awards
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) received the 'Grand Prize in the Local Government Category' at the '2024 Korea ESG Awards,' co-hosted by the Korea ESG Society.
The 'Korea ESG Awards' is a ceremony that evaluates the achievements of ESG management and practice activities aimed at transitioning to a sustainable carbon-neutral society, discovering exemplary cases.
In this event, held for the second time this year, a total of 44 organizations and individuals from national institutions, local governments, public institutions, and companies were selected. In the local government category, four local governments were chosen, and Jungnang-gu was recognized for its outstanding performance by receiving the grand prize.
Since 2023, the district has formed an expert advisory group to practice ESG administration jointly between the public and private sectors and finalized the Jungnang ESG slogan as "Sustainable Future, Jungnang ESG."
Notably, as the first local government in the 8th term of elected officials, over 500 participants from the public sector, private sector, industry, academia, and research institutes declared the sustainable development vision "Jungnang where present and future, people and nature coexist," and announced a sustainable development promotion plan based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), actively implementing it.
