Government and Financial Institutions Offer Preferential Treatment and Loan Interest Discounts

View original imageFifty companies and institutions in Gwangju have received the "Family-Friendly Certification" from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. On the 25th, Gwangju City announced that, in the "2024 Family-Friendly Certification" screening by the Ministry, 26 organizations received new certifications, 10 had their validity extended, and 14 were recertified, totaling 50 certified entities.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family grants this certification, the only government-recognized certification related to family-friendly management, to companies and institutions that exemplary operate family-friendly policies such as supporting childbirth and childcare, flexible work arrangements, and creating a family-friendly workplace culture, following a strict evaluation process.
Including companies such as SOS Lab Co., Ltd. and the Honam Institute of Korean Studies, a total of 140 companies and institutions in Gwangju (102 small and medium-sized enterprises, 3 large corporations, and 35 public institutions) have been certified as family-friendly as of this year, an increase of 10 from last year.
Certified companies and institutions are eligible for various incentives provided by the central government, local governments, and financial institutions.
Central government agencies, including the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, offer benefits to certified companies such as issuance of immigration priority cards, extra points in government procurement evaluations, discounts on broadcasting advertisement fees, and lower bank loan interest rates. Notably, starting next year, practical benefits such as deferred tax audits in collaboration with the National Tax Service will be provided, raising expectations among certified and aspiring companies.
Certified companies and institutions in the city and province receive 18 types of incentives, including extra points for reliability in general service procurement evaluations, support for SME export marketing projects, priority in family-friendly management support fund evaluations, and preferential loan interest rates at Gwangju Bank.
Support for employees is also provided at the district level. Employees and their families working at family-friendly certified companies and institutions are eligible for six benefits, including discounts on photography at designated studios (in Buk-gu, Gwangju) and exemption from kindergarten admission fees.
Yoon Geonyeol, head of the Work-Family Balance Support Headquarters, said, "Family-friendly management is proving effective not only in improving corporate image and reducing turnover rates, but also in enhancing employees' quality of life and job satisfaction. We hope that local small and medium-sized businesses will obtain family-friendly certification and use it as a benchmark for family-friendly management."
Meanwhile, the Gwangju Work-Family Balance Support Headquarters is promoting various support projects for family-friendly management, including program operation expenses, consulting for certification preparation, and initiatives to support work-family balance.
