Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) signed a tripartite business agreement on the 24th with the Uijeongbu Office of Education and Gyeonggi Buk Science High School to strengthen the scientific and technological capabilities of local students and revitalize STEM education. This agreement marks an innovative starting point for Uijeongbu to leap forward as a cradle of future science and technology talent.

View original imageThrough this agreement, Uijeongbu City plans to strengthen its role as a regional hub for nurturing future talent. In particular, it will undertake multifaceted support to provide a creative and challenging learning environment for students in the area.
First, administrative efforts will be concentrated on fostering science and technology talent by enhancing cooperation with Gyeonggi Buk Science High School and the Uijeongbu Office of Education. Through this, specialized educational programs and activities will be supported so that local students can nurture their dreams in STEM fields, and the school’s curriculum will be helped to harmoniously connect with the local community.
Additionally, administrative and financial support related to science and technology education will be expanded to actively back local educational institutions so they can operate stably and create better learning environments.
One of the most notable features of this agreement is that Gyeonggi Buk Science High School will establish a new selection process for outstanding local talent. Accordingly, it is expected to provide a special opportunity for students in the Uijeongbu area to prioritize studying in the science and technology fields and lay the foundation for discovering more talent.
Moreover, Gyeonggi Buk Science High School will operate a mentor-mentee program targeting middle school students in the region, inviting students interested in science to the school. It will also support the recruitment of excellent teachers and stable operation necessary to maintain the superior educational environment of Gyeonggi Buk Science High School and further improve the quality of education.
