Buan County Pays 1.4 Billion Won in Fisheries Public Benefit Direct Payments to Fishermen
1.3 Million Won Each for 1,100 Fishermen
Buan-gun, North Jeolla Province, will provide a total of 1.4 billion KRW in fisheries public interest direct payment to 1,100 fishing households, with each household receiving 1.3 million KRW this month.
According to the county on the 23rd, this fisheries public interest direct payment is an incentive given to fishing villages with small-scale fisheries and poor living conditions to help supplement the income of fishermen and improve their living environment.
The recipients are fishing businesses that have continuously resided in fishing villages, obtained fishing permits, and are engaged in small-scale fishing activities.
To facilitate the payment, the county accepted applications from eligible fishing households from February to last month, conducted qualification verification and compliance checks, and finally selected 1,100 households as the final recipients.
Governor Kwon Ikhyeon said, "I hope that fishermen who continue their difficult fishing activities in disadvantaged fishing villages can take pride and find fulfillment in their work," adding, "We will do our best to resolve income imbalances with other industries and to improve the living environment."
