Mun Hyungsik Sergeant and Park Junghwan Police Officer Receive One-Rank Promotion
Two police officers who contributed to the arrest of drug offenders involved in the distribution and use of narcotics in island regions, as well as to the promotion of maritime safety culture to the public, have been specially promoted in recognition of their achievements.
The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Chief Lee Myungjun) held a promotion ceremony on the morning of the 23rd in the main conference room, where Detective Moon Hyungsik from the Narcotics Investigation Unit and Public Relations Officer Park Junghwan were each specially promoted by one rank.

He obtained intelligence that foreign workers were distributing and using large quantities of drugs (Yaba and marijuana) along the west coast, and after eight months of persistent investigation, succeeded in apprehending 17 drug offenders who had fled nationwide to places such as Gwangju and Sokcho, and detaining 16 of them.
Officer Park, who majored in journalism and broadcasting, began his career as a special recruit in public relations for the Coast Guard. Believing that raising public safety awareness is crucial for preventing maritime accidents, he contributed to enhancing public safety consciousness by promoting 'water safety rules' on 7.5 million milk cartons and the 'maritime safety campaign' at 55,000 convenience stores nationwide, making safety information easily accessible in everyday life.
Detective Moon stated, "I did not achieve this promotion on my own, but with the help of senior officers and those around me," and added, "I will use this as a foundation to grow into a veteran investigator."
Officer Park also expressed, "It would have been difficult without cooperation between departments. My passion for achieving results through planned public relations seems to have led to good outcomes," and shared his ambition, "I will continue to promote the Coast Guard, who work tirelessly day and night for a safe sea."
Chief Lee Myungjun said, "I sincerely congratulate you on this honorable special promotion. I hope you always demonstrate the Coast Guard's dedication and sense of responsibility in faithfully performing your duties," and urged, "Please share investigative and promotional techniques and join forces to prevent drug crimes and maritime accidents."
