The meeting discussed the interim report and related matters of the "Basic Plan and Feasibility Study for the Construction of a Comprehensive Funeral Facility in Yeoncheon-gun," which has been underway since August, to incorporate various opinions into the optimal basic plan for the comprehensive funeral facility construction.
According to the interim report, Yeoncheon-gun will invest a total project cost of 110.6 billion KRW to build a joint-type comprehensive funeral facility on a development area of 155,419㎡ (project area 320,000㎡) at San 189, Dapgok-ri, Sinseo-myeon, Yeoncheon-gun.
The joint-type comprehensive funeral facility will include a two-story crematorium with a building area of 4,598㎡ (8 cremators), a resting facility with a capacity of 40,000 urns (including 15,100 urns in the columbarium, 4,300 urns in the urn wall, 12,800 natural burial plots, and 7,800 tree burial plots), a parking lot for 250 vehicles, and convenience facilities for bereaved families.

In particular, the Yeoncheon-gun joint-type comprehensive funeral facility plans to minimize the composition of walking trails, plazas, and parks to focus on the convenience of users of the funeral facility. Although the estimated project cost has been reduced to 110.6 billion KRW, the number of urn resting spaces (columbarium, natural burial plots, etc.) allocated to participating neighboring counties is higher than that of adjacent joint-type funeral facilities. Given the high demand among Yeoncheon residents for the joint-type comprehensive funeral facility, the project is expected to accelerate, and it is anticipated that residents of other local governments without cremation facilities will show great interest.
